Meet “Bark”. When we first found him, this resilient stray was suffering from a large, ruptured mass on his face that was obstructing his airway. Every breath was a struggle, and his future looked bleak.
Our rescue team immediately brought him to the WVS Center, where our experienced veterinary team jumped into action. Initial tests—including bloodwork, X-rays, and cytology—revealed a complicated road ahead. Bark wasn't just fighting a tumor; he was also battling blood parasites and heartworms.
The Turning Point
The diagnosis brought a wave of relief: the mass was confirmed as a TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor). While it looked daunting, this specific type of tumor can be effectively treated with chemotherapy—no invasive surgery required!
Because the tumor was threatening his breathing, we couldn't afford to wait. We made the critical decision to treat the tumor and his infections simultaneously.
A New Lease on Life
Bark has been the ultimate "good boy" throughout his recovery. After 5 weeks of chemotherapy, the transformation is nothing short of miraculous:
* The mass has significantly shrunk.
* His breathing is clear and easy.
* He is stronger, more active, and full of spirit!
We are now in the final stretch of his treatment. Soon, Bark will be back to living a normal life—free from pain and the weight of the tumor that once held him back.
