Hugo, a 5-year-old male dog, was found in desperate shape by a visitor to a popular tourist spot. He had a large, maggot-infested wound on his head, as well as injuries to his left front leg and eye. Initial blood tests at the WVS Rescue Center, also revealed a heartworm infection. In addition, an old head injury had left a deep indent dent in his skull. We suspect that some, or all of Hugo’s injuries were deliberately inflicted by cruel humans.
From the start of his recovery under the care of our vet team, we found that Hugo is an exceptionally kind and loving dog. He adores and instantly trusts every person he meets, and seems so grateful for every little kindness he receives.
As the end of his medical treatment approaches, we are very concerned for Hugo’s future well-being and safety, if he has to return to his previous area.
While he may never be considered the most physically handsome dog, he has the most loving and lovable character. Hugo is great with other dogs and fantastic with people of all shapes and sizes. He’s the most gentle, friendly and easygoing dog you’ll ever meet; a great companion for the whole family!
