Ton's strange growth

Ton had a pretty good life on the grounds of the 700 Year Stadium. Regular visitors and locals loved his friendly and playful personality and made sure he was safe and well fed. But some time ago, a strange growth started to develop on the left side of his chest. Eventually this strange object grew to the size of a human fist and one of his carers sough help at the WVS clinic, as it was clearly bothering him.

Our veterinary team initially feared the worst. But soon they were able to determine that Ton’s tumor was in fact benign and could be surgically removed.

Due to its massive size, the surgery was quite challenging. But Ton made it through with flying colors and is recovering beautifully. He’s already back to his old tricks on walks with our volunteers and will shortly return to his friends at the stadium.

Even benign tumors like Ton’s can become life threatening, if left unchecked. So we advise dog owners to check their pets regularly for any unusual lumps and bumps, and consult a vet as early as possible.

Last year the WVS Thailand veterinary team treated almost 1000 stray and community animals and sterilized many thousands more free of charge. If you would like to support our lifesaving work, PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION TODAY!
