Saving Dragon

Our friends from Banpong municipality found this little male stray near their compound, clearly in distress. He had trouble walking on his hind-legs, so they assumed he’d been hit by a car. While we could not find any broken bones, our vets soon discovered the real reason for his weakness and pain — He had a deep, massively infected wound on his lower abdomen. The pain of the injury and festering infection must have been extreme.

Upon further inspection, the vets found that the wound cavity was filled with hundreds of maggots. A team of doctors and nurses worked several hours to carefully remove the critters and clean the wound, with little Dragon under heavy sedation.

Our little patient is still weak and will need weeks of daily wound-care, medication medication, and other treatments to get well.

All our veterinary rescue work is privately funded. You can support sweet, gentle Dragon in his recovery, by making a donation today.
