Alerted by a concerned citizen, the WVS Rescue Team recently brought in a young male dog in terrible condition from a nearby neighborhood.
Beside a large, massively infected head wound “Donnie” was emaciated, severely anemic, and suffering from several types of blood parasites. Our dedicated team of veterinarians pulled out all the stops to treat his multiple health issues. Without treatment, any one of these would have painfully ended his young life in a short time.
Early in his treatment we discovered that Donnie was absolutely terrified of anyone coming near, or touching him. It is quite likely that his head injury is the result of an attack by humans. So, along with treating his medical issue, our team is working patiently to develop some trust and confidence.
In recent days we are beginning to see the first signs of Donnie connecting with our team members. We are doing our best to heal the spirit of this gentle soul, along with fixing his broken body.
Every year WVS Care for Dogs provides life-saving veterinary treatment to hundreds of strays and other animals who have nowhere else to get help. All our work is funded through private donations. Will you help us today?
