Dobby's second chance

One of our volunteers noticed little Dobby stumbling along the road to the WVS Rescue Center. It was clear that this old girl was at the end of the line.

Starved and exhausted, she was admitted to our clinic that day. A thorough veterinary exam revealed that Dobby couldn’t have lasted much longer — Her skinny little body was ravaged by skin, blood and intestinal parasites. She had also lost all her teeth and was going blind in one eye. All these problems made it impossible for her to find enough food or water as a stray.

Over four months, our team was able to eradicate all the disease from Dobby’s body. She has gained weight and her chocolate brown coat is growing thicker. We can’t give her back her teeth or reverse the vision loss, so Dobby’s days as a street dog are definitely over. She has rewarded our efforts with lots of snuggles and doggie kisses and has become a favorite walking partner for our volunteers.

It would be the greatest Xmas gift for Dobby (and for us!) if she could find a loving home for her retirement. Given her medical history and advanced age, we would be happy to provide free lifetime veterinary care at our clinic, whenever needed, after adoption. We just want to see her experience the comforts of a loving home, after all the hardship she has endured.

If you want more homeless animals like Dobby to get desperately needed veterinary care please consider making a donation today.

For adoption inquiries, please message here, or call us at 086 913 8701. Visitors are welcome from Monday thru Saturday, 10:00-16:30.
