Among the many dangers strays encounter in our communities is being shot out of anger or for sport. In recent weeks we saw two such victims of gun violence at the WVS Rescue Center.
One of them is Stilgar, a friendly two-year-old community dog. He was admitted with several small entry wounds around his left shoulder. Thanks to our state-of-the-art X-ray equipment which was generously donated to us by Sound, our veterinarians easily located four shotgun pellets and were able to remove them safely. Because of our doctors’ skill and timely intervention, Stilgar has already made a full recovery.
Pizza, a young community dog from a remote village, was not so lucky. He had been shot for stealing a chicken. Sadly, a large bullet completely severed his spinal cord and he was left totally paralyzed.
Our veterinarians and rescue teams work tirelessly to bring desperately needed help to animals who have nowhere else to go for treatment. But we can’t do this work without your support. Please consider making a donation today.
