Late last week our team were alerted to a critical emergency involving a puppy that had eaten a thin wooden stick used to stack meatballs for fast food. The puppy was immediately taken into the care of our experienced veterinary team for a full assessment of the situation.
A quick trip to our on-site X-ray and ultrasound suite helped our vets to identify the location of the foreign object and create a plan for immediate surgical removal by our skilled street dog specialists.
The operation was made critical after it was discovered that not only had the entire stick been swallowed whole without breaking, but it had now perforated the stomach lining and was close to breaching the abdominal wall.
Thanks to the swift actions of the kind gentleman who rushed the dog to WVS Thailand, coupled with the ability to immediately diagnose the issue with precision thanks to our phenomenal veterinary team and the generously donated medical hardware here at the rescue centre, ‘Mhee’ was clear of the obstruction within a few hours of arrival and collected by his hero rescuer less than 48hrs later!
All our work is privately funded. Please help us bring lifesaving veterinary care to more animals that have nowhere else to turn to.
