Why You Should Adopt A Black Dog

Black Puppies and dogs are often overlooked at shelters and are considered the most difficult ones to find homes for. The reasons are not clear but it seems many people just associate bad things with the word “black”.

Here are a few reasons to take a harder look at ”the black ones” when searching for a furry companion:

  • Black goes with everything! No matter what season, or what this year’s trending colors in fashion, your black pet will never clash with your wardrobe or furniture. And black makes everything around it look brighter… even you!
  • Some of the very best and smartest dogs hide in a black coat. While many dogs get adopted quickly, despite any bad habits and character flaws, just because of their look, black is neutral. So you can really focus on character and temperament. You will always find an excellent selection of black dogs at shelters.
  • Safety — No matter how sweet, friendly and cuddly your black dog is, many shady strangers in the street, as well as burglars in your home, will be deterred by their own negative image of black dogs, and leave you alone.
  • Most black dogs you meet at a shelter will have been there longer than the average rescue dog. So they will be that much more appreciative to be chosen by you. They will do everything in their power to be great family members.

So why not check out the “blackies” on our adoptions page and make an appointment to meet a couple? You may just find your priceless black diamond among them!
