Despite numerous obstacles, such as travel bans, lock-downs and other restrictions imposed on our mission to improve animal welfare in the region, Team WVS Thailand forged ahead undeterred in 2021.
Animal Birth Control
Our most powerful tool to improve the lives of homeless companion animals, as well as the communities they live in, is humane birth control through sterilization and vaccination. When done on a large scale, at a sustained rate, we achieve smaller and healthier stray populations. In the past year, our highly skilled teams of veterinarians, nurses and animal handlers managed to sterilize and vaccinate thousands, which prevents future unwanted births in the millions.
All surgical procedures, whether performed in our large surgery at WVS Care for Dogs or on outreach missions in remote communities, are performed at the highest standard of veterinary care and with the latest surgical techniques.
Rescue & Rehabilitation
The same highly skilled veterinary team who conduct our birth control campaigns, also provides live-saving veterinary care to hundreds each year, at our state-of-the-art facility in Hangdong. These services are available at no cost to the stray, community and temple animals in the region.
Training & Education
Sharing skills and information with the veterinary, animal welfare, and general communities is an important means to give our mission scale and sustainability. We do this through highly structured hands-on training courses for veterinary professionals at our training center in Hangdong, as well as for community animal caregivers during each of our outreach missions. In addition, our education team engages continually with schools and community leaders, to raise awareness and share knowledge about community animal welfare.
Rehoming
While most of the animals we help will eventually return to their original habitat in the community, we endeavor to find safe and loving homes for those who cannot be returned for compelling reasons. While this has a smaller impact on animal welfare overall, it certainly makes a world of difference to those individual animals.
All our work for the animals is funded by animal lovers like you. So please support our mission with a small (or large) donation today! Even a small amount can change a life forever! wvsthailand.org/en/donate/
