A Fond Farewell

For many years, the “gold standard” in dog training and boarding in Northern Thailand, has been an outfit called Luckydogs-th, operated by Nienke Parma and her team. Luckydogs was born out of its founder’s profound curiosity, love and compassion for animals.

After settling in Chiangmai more than 20 years ago, Nienke embarked on a lifelong journey of learning and eventually became the leading pioneer of force-free training and behavior consulting in the region. The name LuckyDOGS notwithstanding, quite a few cats, and the occasional pig, rodent or parrot, have also benefitted from Nineke’s care over the years.

Thanks to her generosity, ever-growing knowledge and compassion, numerous dogs who came to WVS Care for Dogs with severe behavioral issues, have benefitted enormously from Nienke’s help over the years. Luckydogs also became an invaluable resource for many of our alumni, and their adoptive families.

Due to an unfortunate combination of factors, Nienke needed to move back to her native Holland a few months ago, and this week marks the official end of Luckydogs-th. Thankfully, she has continued to support us, and a number of her clients through remote consulting, and will continue to do so going forward. Meanwhile, Nienke is already working on her new venture called “SimplyPawsible”, based in the Netherlands.

On behalf of all the dogs she helped over her years in Chiangmai, as well as their families and rescuers, we want to send Nienke off with massive thanks and our very best wishes for her continuing journey. Our loss will be the gain of pet owners in Europe, and perhaps even some of our many overseas supporters!
